Everton and Lukaku at impasse over new deal

⚽ Everton and Lukaku at impasse over new deal ⚽

Talks regarding a new contract between Everton and Romelu Lukaku have stalled.

Sky Sports and the Daily Mail, among other outlets, are reporting that the Belgian striker will not sign the latest offer from the Toffees.

Asked by a Belgian broadcaster on Tuesday after training if he was set to sign a new deal, if he was thinking about it and if there was an agreement in place, Lukaku answered “No” to each question.

His agent, Mino Raiola, recently revealed that his client was a 99.99% chance of penning a new deal with Everton which was believed to be in excess of £100,000 per week.

It is understood that there is a disagreement between the Premier League’s joint-leading scorer and the club regarding a release clause.

Everton want it set at £90million while the player and his representative Raiola are looking for it to be set at £70m.

However, the Goodison Park club has not yet given up hope of coming to an agreement with Lukaku who continues to be linked with former club Chelsea.

Manchester United, Juventus and PSG all remain interested in the 23-year-old who is determined to play Champions League football and consistently compete for trophies.
