Watford captain Troy Deeney is a big money target for West Brom.

The Sunday Mirror says Baggies boss Tony Pulis will make Hornets skipper Deeney his No1 close-season target, and the club’s top brass are ready to back him with a £20million bid.

Watford turned down an offer in excess of £15m from Premier League champions Leicester for Deeney last June and then handed him a new five-year contract worth £50,000 a week.

But West Brom are prepared to give the 28-year-old an even better deal in their bid to bring him back to his native Midlands.

The Birmingham-born striker began his career at Walsall after failing to land a contract at Aston Villa.
